Crawley Town Community Foundation have been delivering their Football Education programme at The People’s Pension Stadium for the past five years.
Our sport degree and PGCE-qualified teaching staff teach three BTEC Sport pathways, all designed for young people seeking a career in football.
In partnership with Holy Trinity Sixth Form, we offer 16–19-year-olds the opportunity to study BTEC First & BTEC National qualifications in Sport.
As part of the programme, you can be selected to play in either our Foundation Academy or Development Squad, the squads are fluid to allow for progression and to maximise game time for players. These students are playing high-level football in the National Football Youth League & Cup and Sussex Schools County Cup, against similar programmes and colleges in the South of England.
The programme has many potential pathways linking on from the BTEC programme, out of this year’s current cohort, Jack Norcott has been offered a place at Solent University studying a Degree in Football Studies, and other students have been offered scholarships to continue studying and playing full-time in the USA.
A recent success for programme, sees second year student Joel Ogilvie, being invited to train with the first team, following 18-months of development which has seen him grow from a technically gifted midfielder, into an exciting modern ball-playing centre-back.
After impressing Technical Director, Erdem Konyar and First Team Manager John Yems, in our Foundation Academy’s NFYL Championship fixtures, Joel has earnt the opportunity to impress the first team and stake a claim for a professional contract at the club.
If you’re interested in following in Joel or Jack’s footsteps, the Crawley Town Education Academy are currently accepting applications for September 2021 enrolment from footballers who are interested in studying BTEC Sport. Potential students must be born between 1st September 2003 – 31st August 2005 (Year 11 and Year 12 students).
Due to the current issues surrounding Covid-19, we have postponed our trial series, until it is safe for players to return to the field, however students can send references and be interviewed for places in our September 2021 cohort.
