Utilita EFL Kids Cup 2021

On Friday 10th December, Crawley Town Community Foundation hosted the EFL Kid’s Cup at the Broadfield 3G opposite the People’s Pension Stadium, with 14 teams from local schools entering.

The competitions take place each year, with the aim of local schools representing their local EFL Club for the opportunity to play at Wembley Stadium in the final.

By encouraging young people to participate and develop a love of sport, the Clubs are helping to deliver the EFL Trust’s overall vision to create stronger, healthier, more active communities, whilst also supporting Sport England’s ambition of creating an active nation by focusing on the benefits sport can bring to people and society.

It was a highly competitive event including Seymour Primary School, Milton Mount Primary School, Langley Green Primary School, Maidenbower Junior School, Three Bridges Primary School, Pound Hill Junior School, The Oaks Primary School, Southwater Junior School, St Francis of Assi Catholic Primary, Our Lady Queen of Heaven School, Desmond Anderson Primary Academy, Northgate Primary School, Gossops Green Primary School and Bewbush Academy.

The top team from each of the 4 groups were selected to take part in the Semi Finals.

The semi-final was played out between Pound Hill Junior School vs. Bewbush Academy and Milton Mount Primary School vs. Maidenbower Junior School

Pound Hill Junior School won their semi-final match, putting them straight through to the finals. Milton Mount Junior School and Maidenbower Junior School’s match was decided via a penalty shootout to determine the second place in the final.

In the end, Milton Mount Primary School joined Pound Hill Junior School in the final at Crawley Town for their chance to win a place to represent Crawley at the regional finals.

The final between Pound Hill Junior School and Milton Mount Primary School was a very competitive affair, both teams showing a high level of skill and determination to make it to the final, which Pound Hill Junior School came out on top by winning 1-0.

A huge thank you to all the schools who competed in the annual EFL Utilita Kid’s Cup.

We wish Pound Hill Junior School all the best for the next round of the competition.
