Following a year of continuous challenges, Crawley Town Community Foundation aims to increase its support within various areas of the community, in a new year which has started pretty much as the previous year finished.
Each year in partnership with the Premier League, we deliver our, Premier League Primary Stars programme within Primary Schools around Crawley. Having previously delivered this programme to over 25 schools in the area the Foundation is keen to extend its reach to ensure that even during a pandemic, teachers and pupils don’t miss out.
Premier League Primary Stars aims to improve physical and emotional wellbeing, boost attainment, increase school attendance and support young people in making positive lifestyle choices. Using the power of the Crawley Town brand, the programme consists of classroom support in Literacy & Numeracy lessons, as well as PSHE support and PE Mentoring for teachers.
This year in partnership with Mid-Sussex Active, we will be delivering a virtual CPD event for primary phase teachers to help improve confidence in their delivery of PE during the Covid-19 lockdown and beyond.
This event aims to create a local support network, in order to share best practice alongside partner organisations for newly qualified and experienced teachers.
The event will focus on the role of a PE teacher and how they are adapting to teaching online, during the current restrictions.
It will also look at the development of sessions, throughout the various year groups and sharing ideas on session content. The CPD event will also include the changes Covid-19 has placed on remote/socially distanced learning and the support physical activity can provide to the other areas within the curriculum and providing resources to primary PE teachers to aid delivery.
The session will be taking place on Wednesday 27th January 2021, from 3:30pm to 4:30pm via Zoom.
Kayleigh Bowers, Schools and Football Development Manager said, “Crawley Town Community Foundation are really keen to help and support local primary schools in any way we can during this Covid-19 period. This is why we have partnered with Mid-Sussex Active in order to share best practice and help build confidence of teachers working remotely and in school in their delivery of PE.”
