Premier League Primary Stars Returning September 2020

When Crawley Town Community Foundation was announced as the Ignition EFL Community Club for the South East 2020 at the beginning of March, nobody anticipated what the future months would entail. With Government restrictions begin to ease and confirmation of the continuation of support for the PE Sport Premium, it is time to look ahead to see what we can do to help the community moving forward.

As it is nearly summer holidays, the team has been working hard, planning how they can help schools safely with both extra-curricular clubs & Premier League Primary Stars (PLPS).

PLPS aims to improve physical and emotional wellbeing, boost attainment, increase school attendance and support young people in making positive lifestyle choices.

Working with national partners such as the Premier League, we are able to offer part-funded sessions in local schools in Crawley and surrounding areas. We have previously delivered this programme to over 25 schools in the area and are keen to extend our reach to ensure no pupil misses this opportunity.

Using the power of the Crawley Town brand, the programme consists of classroom support in Literacy & Numeracy lessons, as well as PSHE support and PE Mentoring for teachers. We are proud to design programmes that are bespoke to the schools we work with.

Each programme includes a Graduation Ceremony at The People’s Pension Stadium, Crawley where pupils can receive completion certificates and attend a stadium tour.

Callum Agent, School Sports Co-ordinator, said this about the plans going into the 2020/21 school year, “We want to make this programme as inclusive as possible.

It is so refreshing to see the difference it makes to the pupils we work with. We have begun taking booking for schools for the next academic year, and if you would like more information or have any questions please contact me at callumagent@crawleytownfc.com

Crawley Town Community Foundation uses the power of sport and football to engage, inspire and empower people. Working with participants and the community, together with local, regional and national partners, we aim to positively change lives and support people in health & wellbeing, sports participation, equalities and inclusion, education, enterprise, employment and skills, regeneration and community safety.

We will continue to help and support the community as much as we can in this time of crisis.
