Since 2019, the Foundation has delivered its Extra Time Hubs and during the past year we have seen the programme transform into a community hub for many around Crawley.
The programme is designed and aimed for members of the community, aged 55+ to attend a variety of activities and creating a support network for those accessing the weekly sessions.
The programme offers members the chance to meet weekly, face-to-face at The People’s Pension stadium where we host activities including, arts & crafts, physical activity sessions, board games and quizzes, alongside an assortment of relevant guest speakers to support their every need.
We also have a wider weekly timetable of events, including Wellbeing Walks (Wednesday), Photography (Thursday), Walking Football (Friday) and an additional indoor session at Bewbush Youth Centre on a Wednesday morning,
This past month we have welcomed the team from Crawley Wellbeing’s Falls Prevention and Alcohol Awareness Teams on separate occasions, as well as staff from the Alzheimer’s Society, Citizens Advice Bureau and Crawley Museum.
These visits have provided participants with extra support or information they might need to improve their physical or mental wellbeing, creating some fantastic crafts, or talking to more people about memories and reminiscing.
Refreshments such as tea, coffee and biscuits are always available, along with welcoming staff ready to support everyone who attends our Extra Time Hub.
If you would like to come along and join in, our main Hubs session is every Friday from 11:30am – 1:30pm, all abilities are welcome and you don’t have to be 55+ to join. The cost is £3 per week, with your first session FREE.
