Extra Time Hubs marks the end of the Foundation's week with a bustling social group for Crawley's 50+ community. The Foundation is committed to tackling loneliness and social isolation and has supported the local community for the past five years.
Our Extra Time Hubs continue to grow each week, with participants recently being supported with advice on Smart Energy GB and accessing Walking Football, Quizzes and plenty of conversation
Each week over 40 participants come together at the Broadfield Stadium to play games, take part in seated exercises with Nuffield Health and catch up with friends. Last week, participants were able to access advice on Smart Energy via booklets and online resources.
A recent addition to the session includes learning about and developing IT skills. Supported by Foundation staff, participants can use the laptops to show you’re never too old to start accessing and using IT.
The Foundation’s Extra Time Hubs volunteer, Derek, also delivered an amazing quiz to test our participants general knowledge with the winner taking home a prize.
Despite the hot conditions last Friday, that didn’t stop our resilient group of walking football players from getting out onto the ball court. As always, the group are split into 2 teams following a warmup led by our Community Development Manager, Matt Calver. From the first whistle the games are always packed with action with players improving every week and numbers ever increasing.
The Innovation Electrical suite the Broadfield Stadium hosts special guests, games, seated exercises, pool and conversation with Walking Football outside on the ball court.
Extra Time Hubs is open and accessible to all, with numbers increasing and new faces accessing the session each week.
Being supportive of the local community and committed to tackling loneliness and social isolation within the community of Crawley is a key aspect of the Foundation.
