Away Days with Crawley Town Youth teams

On Wednesday 7th June, Seven Elite & Development teams were invited by Premier League Club, Brentford FC to play a series if fixtures, with each team playing four games against teams from Brentford and Reading FC, starting off with our Under9 and 10s in the morning and finishing with a combined Under 15 and 16 squad, under the supervision of our Elite & Development Coaches.

After each game, the players got to choose their best player from the matches based upon the following characteristics: performance, respect, confidence and bravery. A huge well done to Mason, Harrison, Dexter, Elliott, Archie, Ronit and Daniel for being selected. Each game played was competitive and closely fought, with some great memories created.

For one of our Under 10’s, Ruben it was a particularly memorable day as he is a huge Brentford fan and got to play against his team whilst representing his local club and performed incredibly well.

All of the Crawley players made the coaches and parents proud, not only performing to their potential and working hard but keeping their values with everything they did throughout the day.

Ian Cobbett, Player Pathway Coordinator said “It was a great day of Football and we are all proud of the Crawley players, who not only got to represent their local club but show everyone what it means to play for Crawley Town. They all stuck to their objectives, individually and as a team, carrying on from our weekly training”

The Youth Development Pathway (U7s to U16s) at Crawley Town FC is designed to focus on the holistic development of the players within our centres. Emphasising the importance of building resilience, confidence and leadership skills, our players are role models whether they are on or off the football pitch.

All of our players are expected to continue training with their grassroots team and are provided extra support if necessary. Our centres are delivered once a week and there are additional training opportunities (Goalkeeper-Specific & Physical Performance) available to opt into. All of our players have the opportunity to be Ball Retrievers at Crawley Town FC matches.
