As the 2019/20 season comes to an end, we reflect on how we have managed to support the community throughout a massive global crisis and look ahead to the new 2020/21 season. Over the past few months, we have seen some big changes in the Foundation.
Firstly, we said farewell to outgoing Chairman, Vic Marley, and one of our Trustees, Allan Foot, and thanked them for their contributions over the last eight years. We also reflected with appreciation on those who had left the Board during the season: Kelly Derham (Club Representative) and Mark Dunford (Media).
We also say farewell to our CEO, Birtug Kazim, who will be leaving his post in mid-September. We record our thanks for Birtug’s contributions over the past six years and wish him well in his future endeavours.
These staffing changes have prompted the Board and Management team to redefine how we would like the Foundation to grow, moving into the future and begin creating a new direction for the management of the Foundation itself.
Looking to the future, we are pleased to welcome Thura KT Win as the new Chairman for the Foundation and Steve Sawyer as the Vice Chairman. The Foundation has been further strengthened by the introduction of Zoe Wright (HR Trustee) and James May (Finance Trustee) alongside representatives from the Football Club – Nuhkan Ruzgar (the Club’s Vice Chairman) and Selim Gaygusuz (the Club’s Managing Director).
Since Thura’s appointment, supported by Steve and other Trustees, we have made positive steps towards mutually beneficial relationship with Crawley Town FC with plans for more collaborative work in the future through our brand-new Service Level Agreement (SLA).
The SLA, which was signed on the 28th August 2020, outlines how the Club and the Foundation can best work together, and how we can elevate the Foundation and the Club to support more people in the community.
While we plan the future of the Foundation and work towards a more collaborative and flatter management structure internally, our Community Development Manager, Darren Ford, has been appointed as the Acting Head of Community Foundation, in addition to his existing role, and will be supported by newly promoted Operations Manager, Sally Atkins.
Finally, our grateful thanks to everyone in the community and external organisations in Crawley and Mid-Sussex for all of your continued support.
We look forward to starting afresh – with new logo too – moving into the new season, with more opportunities available to the team, the Club, the Foundation and the community we all serve.
